Factors affecting the curing performance of sealants

Hits: 884 img

Environmental factors have a significant effect on the curing properties of sealants. The first is the effect of temperature. The higher the temperature, the faster the curing reaction speed. The phenomenon shown is that the surface is dry and the tack is faster. If the temperature is very low, such as below 5 ° C, the sealant will cure slowly. If the temperature is too high, such as above 40 ° C, the sealant will not be used because the surface dries too quickly. Humidity also has a significant impact on the curing performance of the sealant, because the sealant curing reaction requires moisture in the air, so excessively dry weather, such as relative humidity below 40 ° C, is not good for curing the sealant. However, the higher the humidity, the better, because the volatile small molecules are released when the sealant is cured. If the air humidity is too high, the small molecules will not easily volatilize, which is not conducive to the sealant curing. Experiments have shown that when the relative humidity is higher than 80 ° C, degreasing and deep curing of the sealant will be affected. Sometimes after 2-3 days, the surface of the sealant is still sticky. The standard conditions for the performance of sealants specified by national standards are temperature (23 ± 2) ° C and relative humidity (50 ± 5) ° C.
